The awards ceremony of the XX. Cider Contest organized by the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council has just been held and the Euskal Sagardoa of the new harvest of the Gurutzeta Cider House has obtained the gold rating. In order to participate in the contest, it was essential to present the Euskal Sagardoa from the 2020 harvest.
In total, we are 48 producers who make Euskal Sagardoa, and of those, we are 23 who have participated in the contest. All the ciders presented have undergone a physical-chemical analysis, which is essential to pass in order to move on to the organoleptic tasting phase; 17 ciders we passed that first phase. After that, the jury made up of tasters from the Provincial Councils Fraisoro Laboratoy has been in charge of making the selection to classify the ciders. The cider houses that have obtained between 60 and 65 points have been qualified with bronze; those scored between 65 and 72, with silver; and those that have obtained more than 72 points, with gold. Those that have not obtained the minimum score of 60 have been left out of the classification.
The Gurutzeta Cider House has obtained the gold qualification, since the jury has awarded it more than 72 points.
For us, this is the result of the rigorous control established in the apple and cider production process, and the work carried out to guarantee the highest quality. But the biggest prize will be that you enjoy tasting our Euskal Sagardoa!
